About
-
Dimitrios Giannakoudakis was born in Thessaloniki. He attended Mantoulidis private high school and was awarded with a scholarship gaining the first place in several Pan-Hellenic Mathematics competitions. He also received the second European award at the “Gh. Titeica” Mathematic competition while, being a student; he was also awarded from the Greek Chemistry Association with the first award in Macedonia in the Pan-Hellenic Chemistry contest. He graduated first from the department of Chemistry in Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and continued his master studies in the field of Physical Chemistry & Electrochemistry of Materials in the same department, with grade 9.34/10. He also holds a second Master’s Degree in “Chemistry Teaching and New Educational Technologies”, with grade 9.25 during which, he developed the first modern online Green Chemistry e-library. He worked at the Organization of Water Supply and Sewage Disposal System of Thessaloniki. After completing his military service, he worked at Piraeus Bank in the field of Green Products. He has a long time experience in the field of education. Finally he was a radio producer at FM101. Beside his education and working experience, he was elected a counselor of the Municipality of Thessaloniki. He also served as the youngest chairman of the Association of Chemists of Northern Greece. Currently, he is PhD candidate at City University of New York (CUNY) at the sub-disciple of Nanotechnology, having received a full scholarship from the University and a second one from Onassis foundation. His research focuses on the removal of toxic gasses by adsorption on carbon-based materials. He is also an elected officer of the Greek Community at the Graduate Center of CUNY.
